Vanessa da Mata
Born in 1976 in Alto Garças, Mato Grosso, Vanessa da Mata was singing in bars at fifteen before joining a reggae band. Her album Sim, in 2007, carries Boa Sorte with Ben Harper and won her the Latin Grammy for best Brazilian contemporary pop album. She also published a novel in 2013.
