Nasir Jones, born in Brooklyn in 1973, released Illmatic in 1994, an album since added to the National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress. Three of his records have reached number one on the Billboard 200, starting with It Was Written in 1996. King's Disease, produced by Hit-Boy in 2020, won him his first Grammy for best rap album.
