Faith No More
Started in San Francisco in 1979, the band changed singer in 1988 for Mike Patton, and everything shifted: The Real Thing went platinum and Epic entered the American top 10. Angel Dust, in 1992, pushed the mix of rap, metal and pop further still. Three Grammy nominations, and an influence claimed by nu metal.
