Founded in Seattle in 1987 by Jerry Cantrell and Layne Staley, the band has sold more than 30 million certified records in the United States. Dirt is quintuple platinum in 1992, Facelift and Jar of Flies triple platinum. Eleven Grammy Award nominations. Layne Staley died in 2002 and William DuVall took over vocals in 2006.
