Nevermind, released in 1991, sold more than 30 million copies when the label had expected 50,000. In January 1992 it was selling 300,000 copies a week and passed Michael Jackson on the Billboard 200. Smells Like Teen Spirit entered the Grammy Hall of Fame. Two and a half years separate that album from Kurt Cobain's death.
