Founded in London in late 1988 by Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree. Parklife, in 1994, won them four prizes at the 1995 Brit Awards, including best band and best album. Country House became their first British number one, at the end of a much discussed duel with Oasis. They released The Ballad of Darren in 2023.
