Tears for Fears
Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith founded the duo in Bath in 1981. The Hurting went to number one in the United Kingdom as early as 1983, but it was Songs from the Big Chair that established them: five weeks at number one in the United States in 1985, quintuple platinum, with Shout and Everybody Wants to Rule the World both number one. Split in 1991, together again since.
