Founded in Hollywood in 1981 by Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee, joined by Mick Mars and Vince Neil, the quartet has sold more than 100 million records and placed nine albums in the American Top 10. Dr. Feelgood, in 1989, remains their only number one. Mick Mars left the stage in 2022, after forty-one years of touring.
