A Parisian born in 1947, he has sold more than 100 million records. Les Bals populaires launched him in 1970, La Maladie d'amour kept his album twenty-one weeks at the top of the chart, and Les Lacs du Connemara became a staple in 1982. A hundred and thirteen consecutive sold-out nights at the Olympia in 1995. Commander of the Legion of Honour in 2020.
