Leonard Cohen
A poet before he was a singer: the Montrealer had been publishing collections since 1956 and had written two novels when Songs of Leonard Cohen came out in 1967. Songs from a Room, I'm Your Man and The Future followed. His songs have been covered more than 1,500 times. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008, Prince of Asturias Award in 2011. He died in 2016.
