Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel had known each other since 1950s Queens and took that name in 1963. Three songs went to number one in the United States: The Sound of Silence, Mrs. Robinson and Bridge over Troubled Water, whose album passed twenty-five million copies. Nine Grammys. Split in 1970, they played together again in Central Park in 1981 to 500,000 people.
