Georges Brassens
Born in Sète in 1921, he was discovered at Patachou's cabaret in January 1952 and recorded his first record a few weeks later. More than two hundred songs, including Le Gorille and Les Copains d'abord, and poems by Villon, Hugo and Aragon set to music. The Académie française awarded him its grand prize for poetry in 1967. He died in 1981.
