The Doors
The band was born in Los Angeles in 1965 from a meeting between Jim Morrison and Ray Manzarek on Venice beach, and took its name from a book by Aldous Huxley. Their first album, released in early 1967, spent two weeks at number two on the Billboard 200, held off by the Beatles, and contains Light My Fire. Morrison died in 1971, after four years of records.
