Prince Rogers Nelson handled vocals, guitar, keyboards, bass and drums. Purple Rain spent 24 consecutive weeks at number one in the United States in 1984 and sold more than 13 million copies there. That year he became the first person to hold the number one album, single and film at the same time. More than 100 million records sold. He died in 2016.
