Marília Mendonça
A figure of feminejo, the female voice of Brazilian sertanejo, she brought the perspective of women into a genre long written by men. The most streamed artist in Brazil on Spotify, Deezer and YouTube in 2019 and 2020, and the most watched Brazilian artist on YouTube, ahead of Michael Jackson and the Beatles. Her death in 2021, at 26, was a national mourning.
