Janis Joplin
Born in Texas in 1943, she made her name with Big Brother and the Holding Company after the Monterey festival in 1967. Cheap Thrills spent eight weeks atop the Billboard 200. She died in October 1970, at 27. Pearl came out the following year and became her biggest success, with Me and Bobby McGee a number one.
