Born in Agen in 1953, he broke through with Je l'aime à mourir in 1979. Fragile approaches a million copies, Samedi soir sur la Terre passed 3 million in 1994 and Hors-saison came close to 2 million in 1999: all three are diamond. Around 25 million records sold worldwide and a Victoire de la musique in 1990.
