Zahera Darabid, born in Algiers in 1980 and settled in Canada, broke through in 2008 with the album Dima and its single C'est chelou, number 11 in French sales that year. The record is certified platinum. Named best francophone artist at the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2008, and new artist at the NRJ Music Awards the following year. Contagieuse, Le monde à l'envers and Résilience followed.
