Roy Black
German schlager singer born Gerhard Höllerich in 1943 near Augsburg, died in 1991. Spotted by Polydor while he was playing rock, he was steered towards romantic song just as the yé-yé wave receded, and became one of the best-selling voices in Germany in the 1960s.
