Deftones

Started in Sacramento in 1988, the Californian band pulled alternative metal towards something more atmospheric. White Pony, in 2000, entered the Billboard 200 at number three and passes 1.3 million copies in the United States. Elite won them the Grammy for best metal performance in 2001. Bassist Chi Cheng died in 2013.
