Cherilyn Sarkisian, born in California in 1946, broke through in a duo with Sonny Bono and I Got You Babe. More than a hundred million records later, she remains the only solo artist to have had a number one across seven consecutive decades. Believe, released in 1998 when she was 52, popularised the Auto-Tuned voice. She won the Oscar for best actress in 1987 for Moonstruck.
